Messenger troubleshooting
Connecting and common issues with Facebook Messenger.
What you need
For Messenger to work you need:
• A **Facebook Business Page** — not a personal profile.
• You must be **Admin** or **Editor** of the Page.
• Access to the Facebook account that owns the Page (logged-in browser).
With all of that — click Channels → Messenger → **Connect**.
"I don't see my Page in the list"
When connecting, Facebook shows a list of your Pages. If yours is missing, it's one of:
1. **You're not Admin/Editor** of that Page — verify at facebook.com/pages/?category=your_pages.
2. **You revoked rAIceptionist's access before.** Open facebook.com/settings → Business Integrations → find rAIceptionist → Remove → try Connect again.
3. **The Page is archived or unpublished.** Publish it again.
Connected but no messages come through
Common reasons:
1. **The Page has active auto-replies in Meta Business Suite** (Inbox → Automations) — they fire first. Turn them off.
2. **Messenger's 24-hour window policy.** If a client hasn't messaged you in the last 24 hours, Messenger restricts what the bot can send. This is a Meta policy — not our bug.
3. **Webhook subscription didn't complete.** On the Messenger row in Channels — hit **Disconnect → Connect** again.
Instagram + Messenger from the same Page
If your Instagram Business account is linked to this Facebook Page (very common), you can attach both channels to the **same** receptionist. Messages from both channels merge into one conversation history and one usage counter.
